Baby week 30

Yet another check up of the baby by the doctor the 24th of July. Now there is only 10 weeks to the due date. Time is running so fast.

Everything was Ok accordingly to the doctor. Our little boy is growing as he should (he is now 1233 gram).

But he is shy. We were hoping to see a nice profile picture of him again but he kept insisting on having his back to the scanner. But we won't spare you for a short vidio anyway. He is still a cutie!

Summer in Denmark - Legoland

We spent a nice vacation week in Denmark in July.

The weather was not really fantastic but we enjoyed visiting family and friends.

Marco had insisted that if we were to go to Denmark for vacation he had to visit Legoland.
So we went.

Marco and the other kids enjoyed playing around.
A big success was especially the piratships that Marco send under heavy attack with his watercanoon.

I think the happy picture of Marco in Legoland speaks for itself.

What was fun for me was to watch Marco taking pictures throughout the whole night (I spare you the pictures) in order to document that nights in Denmark in the Summer time are much shorter and much lighter then in Italy.

I introduced Marco to the Danish natur and old country houses. He simply had to call his Dad to tell him about all the horses and nice small farmhouses he saw on our way. So cute.

Unfortunately the week went to fast and we didn't visit all the family and friends we would have liked to visit. Next time maybe...

In Training as Handyman

The 16th of July we visited Family Eriksen in Hvalsö to help out with a project of theirs.
They wanted a big teresse so that the whole family easily can be seated there with their friends around.

They had already made much of the work but they appreciated two extre pair of hands (well being pregnate kind of minimized the tasks they wanted to hand over to me :-( so mostly it was just one pair of hand (Marcos) which really worked on the project).

While I was helping out in the kitchen Marco got the job of plugging in a fittet piece of wood into the drilled holes. First he had to fit the plug, then get it in and then plan out the surface nicely. He really became good friends with the polishing machine.

Towards the end of the day we started to see how the finished project might look like. And we could finish the day with a nice big meal in the company of good friends.

A weekend just for relaxing

28- 29 June - A weekend just for relaxing

Instead of stressing around to get the office stuff and other stuff moved out of the 2nd room to prepare for Alessandro's arrival, we went for a weekend of relaxation only.

The sun was out, the temperature perfect and so we did what we both love to do: Walking.
Saturday we went to Frankfurt (Saschenhausen) and enjoyed the nice atmospher in that part of the town.
Taking a small break in the middle of the river to enjoy the nice sight of both sides of Frankfurt, Marco just needed to call his mom to tell her about how wonderful Frankfurt is. Not to mention how nice the weather is compared to the boiling Venice.

After crossing the Main river we went downtown to the resturant there that translated is called " The Laughing Cow" where we shared a nice meal. We have come to really like that resturant because of the nice fastfood and nice atmosphere.

On the way back to the car I got really tired -in my belly - that it was no fun the last kilometer. I guess that baby must have turned so that the gravity suddenly had a better pull. That of course made a good excuse for stopping to have a nice HagenDaze icecream.

Sunday:
My belly was not much better on Sunday morning so I was so slow of getting out of bed that it was too late to catch the sacrament meeting in church.
But after getting up I believe that baby has once again moved around because the pain went away and I was ready to something...

So in the afternoon we took a drive north to Bad Nauheim. Not to visit Elvis but to go for a walk in the park there. It was the first time for both of us to be visiting the city. It was a very nice surprice. We both agreed that we could easily live there if one day we decide to move.

Old cars from the 50s and 60s were driving along the streets, Elvis was posted on big posters in the entertainment area and the park was full of people just like us that just enjoyed being alive.

Marco took this new pic of my belly. Yep -it's growing rapidly and with it our babyboy.

And here is another picture of me close to the big lake in the middle of the park. It was really a pleasure to walk there.

The only negative thing was when the park suddently rotated and I had a hard time pointing out in which direction the car were parked (Marco:"It is a weird phenomenon that only happens when Martha is walking around there.. No explanations found yet"). After walking a little too much Marco's male instict sprang into place and we got our directions back in place and finally found the car (Marco:"It's called the counter paranormal husband's power that comes to the rescue of any wife..").
Nice Nice

Week 23 (last day)

Yesterday we have been to the doctor to check how Alessandro is doing in his mommy´s belly. He is very good. As you can see in the short movies, we he is growing fine. Also he was very active and the doctor had some hard time to check all the organs and so on.. Btw, now he is 600 gr!

In this next movie you can see what a nice hands Alessandro has! Like his father!

And this is a nice picture of him. He is so nice, isn't he?

Extra day off... or how to misuse a holiday

I just have to tell this story...

Leaving Milan alone since Marco had to stay for work I flew home towards Frankfurt. To make it cheap I travelled with Ryanair to Hahn about 140 km west of Frankfurt where our car also was parked.

Of course there were delayes so besides from the fact that the flight was scheduled to arrive midnight which seems late enough for me I ended up first leaving the terminal 1:30.

But the story starts before this. In Milan I had checked in and was on my way out to the plane with the little airportbus. I decided to prepare for arrival in Frankfurt by having the carkeys and parkingticket on top of my bag.

The parkingticket was found in my wallet, the keys were found.... §$%/# in Marco's computer bag which where with him and not with me.

So I had all the fligt time to think about alternative solutions on how to come home from Hahnairport in the middle of the night. Knowing that the last bus from Hahn leaves 1:00 and then finding out we would arrive later didn't make the flight comfortable.

Luckily the bus had waited for us in Hahn, so I bought a ticket and took the bus to Frankfurt Airport where I took a taxi home. I arrived 4:00 in the morning and had the "pleasure" of waking up my neighbours to get my spare key from them.

At 8:00 I gave my boss notice that I needed a extra day off in order to retrieve my car.

At 10:30 I gave up sleepting.

At 12:00 I took of for the trainstation to get the train to Frankfurt.
From Frankfurt I took th bus to Hahnairport. Here I picket up the car and drove back home. I arrived 18:30.

Extra cost: 108 Euro and the use of a holiday.

Lesson: Never let your husband park the car (... or something else...)

Bella Camilla

We were in Milan this weekend to hang out with tiny beautiful Camilla, her parents Chiara and Gianluca and nonna Sandra.

Marco and I are very proud of the fact that we can call us zio and zia to Camilla. She is so cute and so tiny. I can hardly believe she is so well done knowing that she arrived one month too early.

On this Picture she is 10 days old. You can already see what a charmer she is.

Here in the arms of her Nonna you can really see how little she is.

Of course Marco also needs attention from his mamma :-)

It's also time for Marco to get familiar with the future workroutines (did I tell you that we agreed long time ago that I feed and he cleans... he tries his best to forget that agreement :-))
Gianluca is happy to show his new skills.

And then of course we need quality time with Camilla.

Baby half way - the end of week 19

I simply have to show you all the small videoes I taped yesterday when I was at the halfway visit to the doctor. Our baby is so cute and full of energy. See yourself...

Oh I need to tell you - he is now 300 g heavy. That's properly why he now can kick really hard!

This is the cutest of the videos for this time. You can see both hands in front of the face where he plays around with the fingers and is touching nose and eyes.

Here we are trying to catch him to catch a glimps of his face. If you look well you can see that he is just as handsome as his mother and father :-)

After measuring the bone in his legs we are again looking to confirm his gender. We are for sure getting a son!

Here we are trying to get a measurement of his head. But he is so active so he keeps getting out of the picuture.

In the last movie for this time we see his body and the heart beating. And we see the placenta which is located towards my backside in the uterus.

Risotto di Asparagi

Today I made a very good risotto di asparagi. Martha really liked it. Of course you need the touch when you make a real Italian risotto. :-)

The picture is from yesterday. I tell you... he looks like his Dad.

At Bad Homburg's park

Today we decided to have a nice walk at the park in Bad Homburg (15' far from home). It's really a nice place. Everybody there is quite and respectful of others, no matter what they do. There are many playgrounds for kids, there is a golf club, the lake with funny ducks, a tennis court... Everything is set to have a good time.
We walked along the park with the sun shining upon us. Very pleasant! We took some pictures. In this one you see we are at the Thai temple. It's in the middle of the park, along with many others things.. Also modern art piece of architecture or sculptures. This park is also a botanic garden and many trees have a tag with their latin name!

What a perfect day to have an icecream, huh?!

Baby in 3D

Baby week 13 - Video

Marco tried with a camera to film the screen last time we were visiting the doctor and saw our little baby preparing him/herself for the world. Life is a wonder!

General Conference, April 2008

Today we sustained the new First Presidency, with Thomas S. Monson as a prophet.
We were able to hear the Conference live and in English in Friedrichsdorf unit (which is also where the German Temple is located).

Marco: "this is my first time I see a change in the Presidency (live); I have loved pres. Gordon B. Hincley and now I am excited to hear the voice of our new prophet."

Martha: "this is the first time I share this experience with my husband; I loved it. This is also the first time there were people I personally knew which were called in the Seventy."

Ciao,
